Live interviews from the March for Life
Spur Ottawa was on location at the 20th annual March for Life to interview leaders from different parts of the pro-life movement about how you can make a difference and stand for life. Watch the clips below!
Every year, the evening after the March, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) hosts a gala called the Rose Dinner. This year’s speaker was CLC President Jim Hughes, sharing stories of lives saved over the past half century and looking to the future growth of the movement. He also reminded attendants of Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald’s words that abortion “saps the very life blood of the nation”.
Spur Ottawa connected with Hughes to talk about some of the Movement’s successes and challenges since abortion was first legalized in 1969.
With the tail-end of the March passing the War Memorial, Spur Ottawa spoke with Rachel Heineman of My Canada. My Canada heads up a fantastic pro-life ministry issuing pro-life amber alerts. They are also working toward installing a memorial for the unborn in the nation’s capital.
Spur Ottawa also caught up with Mike Schouten, the National Director of We Need A Law, just after the March for Life. He shares the legal context of abortion in Canada and offers a strategy to bring measures of protection for the pre-born in the next five to 10 years.
As pro-life marchers began assembling on Parliament Hill, Spur Ottawa connected with Anglicans For Life Canada’s National Director, Vicky Hedelius. Vicky also pulled Paula Valentine from their contingent to share some of her passion for the life issue.
